London’s most famous and widely known train station is London Victoria Station. Located in the City of Westminster, London Victoria Station takes it’s name from Victoria Street where it is located. London Victoria Station is London’s second most popular train station behind Waterloo Station.
Opened in 1860, Victoria Station has become a major transportation hub in the center of London. Handling almost double the passengers that London’s Heathrow Airport sees , London Victoria Station is a connecting point for over 100 million passengers a year.
London Victoria Station is actually four train stations in one.
Gatwick Express- Started in 1984, the Gatwick Express has offered travelers a airport lounge with airline ticket counters and checkin at London Victoria Station. The train is a express train taking travelers between Victoria Station and Gatwick Airport Railway Station in 30 minutes.
National Rail Station, has two sides, Brighton Mainline, located on the west side of the terminal, handles travelers heading to the south of England with destinations such as , Surrey, Sussex and Brighton as well as Gatwick Airport.
Chatham Mainline, located on the east side of the termnial, handles travelers heading to the east of england with destinations such as Kent. The Orient Express also leaves from the Chatham side.
London’s UnderGround. London Victoria Station is home to 3 of London underground lines. Travelers can connect easily to the Victoria, Circle Line or the District Line making connections to points throughout London.
